Role Purpose
As an Associate Director, you will be responsible for the operations of the Delivery team. Your leadership will drive a user-centered approach and will act as the primary interface between the sector and other functional heads of the business. You will also work with Customers, Projects, 3rd Parties and key stakeholders, to ensure that everyone understands the service and how to consume it.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery Strategy

  • Ownership of the Delivery strategy, with updates briefed to the SLT and other DDaT teams.
  • Partnering with sector and service heads from across the business to ensure that the service is meeting business needs.
  • Translate the Delivery strategy into an actionable roadmap for the team.

Business Development

  • Oversee the assembly of high-quality tenders and/or submissions.
  • Market the organisation’s capabilities and win work with clients to support growth.
  • Maintain and develop the highest standards of client relations including major client account management.
  • Maintain and report upon a Consultancy sales pipeline focused on the delivery of project controls-based consultancy offerings.

Delivery

  • Routine reporting on service performance, including the identification of performance issues and escalation to senior leadership.

Team Leadership

  • Set clear goals for the team and individuals to drive high performance.
  • Regularly assess the performance of the team and find ways to improve its contribution to the business. 
  • Monitor the well-being of the team and support them in doing their best work through coaching and removing roadblocks.
  • Identify resourcing needs to enable business strategy, recruit, and onboard employees to set them up for high performance.
  • Oversight of the operation of the Digital capabilities and competencies framework and associated training requirements.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience leading and motivating a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability for Chartership (incl years of experience)
  • Project Management Qualifications (PMQ, PPQ, PP&C, Agile, Prince 2)
  • Consistently operating as B1 & B2 level or Senior – client side
  • Have previously held Security Clearance and capable of receiving it again

Requirements:

  • Significant involvement in the delivery and control of programmes / projects is essential for all roles however for senior roles a leadership background is necessary.
  • Ideally the applicant should have relevant PM Qualifications (PRINCE2, APMP/APMQ, PP&C). For senior roles a degree or equivalent in years of experience is essential.
  • Lead by example, is skilled at influencing at all levels building strong and trusting relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Promote being different and respect diversity, breaking down silos and territorial behaviour to promote collaborative working and strategic partnerships to develop mutually acceptable solutions.

Role Summary

The Project Manager will be responsible for the Management and delivery of plans to ensure all necessary preparation and execution tasks and dependencies are included, and performance is adequately monitored. They will work with key stakeholders to manage the deployment of all aspects of the project assigned to identify and mitigate potential risks for the delivery of products, particularly to that requirements are managed and delivered to date and time.

You will develop stakeholder relationships with suppliers; including preparation of joint plans; proposals and any design and build documentation as well as preparing technical briefs, costing analysis, status reports and meeting minutes/notes.

Ideal candidates will be able to provide the application of APM methodologies underpinned by practical experience of P3M delivery as well as marketing the organisation’s capabilities when required, including business development activities.

Core Skills:

You will be providing consultancy support to clients around portfolio, programme and project planning and controls. The below responsibilities are not exhaustive, it is a list of chosen responsibilities which you will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience in defining, managing and delivering complex projects, programmes and portfolios
  • Recent experience of working within the Ministry of Defence, Nuclear, Public Sector, IT or Infrastructure programmes
  • Understand the classification and protection of classified information
  • Programme / Portfolio office organisation
  • Leadership of Programme assurance reviews on projects of increasing size and complexity and in the delivery of major business and change management solutions
  • Conversant with continuous improvement and benchmarking methodologies
  • Expertise in multiple planning management and control disciplines
  • Fully conversant with risk and opportunity management including associated methodologies
  • Implementation of benefits management, quality management, and blueprint design and delivery principles

Role Summary

The Digital Principal is responsible for leading a team of multi-disciplinary digital professionals in Agile Delivery, Product Management, and User-centred design (User Research and Design).  Principals ensure the right practices, methodologies, and frameworks are deployed during delivery and are integral SME for customers and internal i3Works colleagues to support delivery or commercial decisions.

This is a varied role supporting the Associate Director of Digital and wider i3D team grow professionally and commercially. With a strong can-do attitude and ability to show how fun digital delivery can be. You’ll be working with a busy and dynamic Digital Team who need support and guidance – at times.

This role is in the heart of everything we do digitally across multi-disciplines ensuring we continue to work flexibly in an agile way. You’ll influence and advocate positive cross-collaboration across i3D and i3C to ensure digital delivery is maintained at a high standard.

Responsibilities include:

  • You’ll be a trusted adviser to internal i3Work consultants and i3D Customers on Digital Delivery.
  • You’ll support growth and opportunities for digital capability areas
  • Manage client expectations and meet deliverables as agreed on statement-of-works
  • Integral part of bid writing and commercial positioning of i3D
  • Advocate and champion for Agile practices
  • You’ll cultivate and lead a positive team culture to support learning and development.
  • Work alongside Associate Directors and Directors to improve Digital practices across Product Management and User-centred design
  • Support and train consultants on best practices (where necessary)
  • Represent i3D and Digital Services in external conferences (where applicable)

Core Skills:

  • Excellent oral and written skills needed for facilitation, presentation and report writing. 
  • Lead Product Manager and/or Digital Delivery Lead for projects in Agile (e.g. SCRUM)
  • Experience in leading Product Teams for services or products at different stages of the GDS Product Lifecycle (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live) or equivalent. 
  • Able to design effective Product Roadmaps and/or delivery plans whilst considering project constraints. 
  • Able to identify and use appropriate techniques to effectively communicate insights (e.g. personas, user journey maps, presentations). 
  • Strong collaborator who has worked in multidisciplinary teams, such as Business Analysts, Content/ Interactions/Product Designers, User Researchers, Product Owners etc. 
  • Experience in data-led problem-solving and working with others to deliver at pace. 
  • Experience making decisions within agreed parameters. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects and managing changing priorities. 
  • Mentoring and training experience in human-centred design, co-design and digital innovation. 
  • Facilitated co-design workshops and research workshops to map journeys, personas and prototyping. 
  • Experience line management of senior members of staff
  • Experience of matrix management of a multi-disciplinary team of Digital professionals (Business Analyst, project/delivery managers, Technical, Quality Assurance)
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • Willing to go through the SC clearance process.

Desirable:

  • Certification in Product Management and/or Product Ownership or agile delivery (e.g. Agile BA, Agile Project Management etc.)
  • Public Sector experience in central government
  • Delivered a GDS project with completed service assessments in Alpha and Beta phases of delivery
  • Technical delivery of mobile and web products
  • Experience working in or with varied roles across Data, Technical and Quality Assurance

Role Summary

As a Senior Business Analyst your core purpose will be to act as the bridge between the business and the technical. You will be the most senior business analyst within a delivery team, directly contributing to that teams’ goals with your analytical skillset. You will work iteratively with the business and the development team to clarify ambiguity, resolve issues, and assist with additional functionality across the service development lifecycle. 

You will be experienced as a BA in a variety of elicitation methods and can advise your team on the appropriate use of each method depending on the stakeholder and scenario. You will be allowed to continue to grow your management capabilities as well as manage relationships with senior stakeholders as you progress to becoming a leading figure within the BA community.

As a Business Analyst, you will be expected to use judgement and a high degree of creativity when faced with complex and varied issues in circumstances where guidance and precedent may not be available. You will use high levels of interpersonal skills to consult with other grades, including more senior managers, to solve issues. You will be expected to make decisions relating to the most effective business modelling required in the circumstances.

Core Skills:

  • Demonstratable experience as a Business Analyst (at least 4 years)
  • Agile working - Able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes. Helps the team to decide the best approach.
  • Able to help teams manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and work to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), print and scope.
  • Investigate problems and analyse options for new and existing services. Provides recommendations for solutions. Works with stakeholders to identify objectives, opportunities, and potential benefits available.
  • Responsible for elicitation of requirements. Facilitates setting of business priorities for change initiatives of medium complexity. Manages and implements requests for changes to baseline requirements.
  • Ability to analyse current processes and identify and implement opportunities to optimise them. Helps to evaluate and establish requirements using relevant techniques such as gap analysis.
  • Ability to apply a digital understanding to their work. Can identify and implement solutions for assisted digital.
  • Has awareness of innovation and can apply this to their work.
  • Willing to go through the SC clearance process.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with GDS frameworks are desirable but not essential.

Role Summary 

As a Senior User Researcher, your core purpose will be to help investigate user behaviour for public and private sector clients, while working on internal digital projects. You will plan, design, and carry out research activities with users that help teams develop a deep understanding of the people who use those digital services and products. You will be collaborating on projects with Business Analysts, UI/UX Designers, Developers, other User Researchers, and stakeholders both internally and externally. 

As a Senior User Researcher, you will lead, advocate and manage your profession. You’ll be responsible for managing a growing User Research Team. You will be required to participate in commercial exercises which include bid writing and response evaluation – on your profession. 

You will use strong interpersonal skills to consult with colleagues and stakeholders, including more senior managers, to solve issues. You will be expected to make decisions relating to the most effective business modelling required in the circumstances. 

  • You’ll be confident shaping rigorous research projects - drawing from best practice styles and methodologies to inform the best possible outcomes. 

  • You have respect for tried and tested ideas but are keen to push boundaries and break new ground. 

  • You’re pragmatic and hands-on when it comes to turning ideas into reality by adapting and evolving sets of tools and techniques to collaborate across disciplines. 

  • You believe in the long-term application of Human Centred Design and digital technology, holding informed opinions on emerging trends like Circular Design or the implications of AI.

Core Skills: 

  • Excellent oral and written skills needed for facilitation, presentation and report writing. 

  • Strong capability in research design, conducting research, data analysis and synthesis, storytelling, user testing and critical thinking. 

  • Lead user research and/or service design projects in Agile and GDS 

  • Experience in leading research for services or products at different stages of the Product Lifecycle (Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live) or equivalent. 

  • Able to design an effective research approach whilst considering project constraints. 

  • Able to identify and use appropriate techniques to effectively communicate insights (e.g. personas, user journey maps, presentations). 

  • Strong collaborator who has worked in multidisciplinary teams, such as Business Analysts, Content/ Interactions/Product Designers, User Researchers, Product Owners etc. 

  • Good technical understanding of digital service delivery and operations. 

  • Comfortable presenting and leading large working groups as well as conducting 1-2-1 interviews at all levels. 

  • Experience of problem-solving and working with others to deliver at pace. 

  • Experience making decisions within agreed parameters. 

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies and scrum teams.  

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 

  • Comfortable working on multiple projects and managing changing priorities. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and equivalent User Research software. 

  • Mentoring and training experience in human-centred design, co-design and digital innovation. 

  • Facilitated co-design workshops and research workshops to map journeys, personas and prototyping. 

A bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Psychology, Social Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience working with JIRA, Azure DevOps, Maze, Hotjar, FigJam/Figma, Miro 

  • Experience working in or with both large and small organisations. 

  • Experience writing commercial bid responses. 

  • Quantitative data analysis. 

  • Hold security clearance or could do so. 

  • Flexible working – Remote and onsite where required by the client or i3Works. 

  • Experience of setting up Community of Practice events, talks, workshops

Core Skills: 

The below responsibilities are not exhaustive, it is a list of chosen skills which you will need to be able to demonstrate: 

  • Previous consultancy experience in a similar role 

  • ITIL Foundation Level qualified 

  • Demonstrable experience working within an ITSM environment using the ITIL framework 

  • Demonstrable experience of involvement in Service Management governance  

  • Demonstrate an understanding of SIAM 

  • Personal flexibility and agility, with the ability to deal with complexity 

  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities with experience at senior management level 

  • Strong and influential relationship management skills with Senior stakeholders, suppliers, colleagues, and users in pursuit of delivering high-quality services whilst maintaining service targets 

  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate resilience to ensure the correct solution is selected with full understanding of the costs, timescales, and risks 

  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently. 

  • Ability to hold Security Clearance 

Desirable: 

  • Defence or Public Sector experience 

  • High level of IT competence with an aptitude for learning new technologies and processes with a focus on ITSM tooling 

  • Excellent negotiation skills  

  • Knowledge of ITIL Service transition and design 

  • Knowledge of ITIL Continual service improvement lifecycle  

  • Experience within a SIAM environment 

  • Experience in bid writing and contract management 

  • P3M or Project Controls Experience
